New 3-Phase Hybrid system options? (EU) - Solar Inverters

Hello guys, im looking for to purchase my first PV Hybrid system. I’m looking for a good, hybrid, 3phase, asymmetric inverter to combine it with some good battery, around 15kw inverter and 15kw battery pack

For more information, please visit Sunplus.

I’ve been hearing good reviews about the Deye, any ideas? Any recommendations? I’m located in EU Greece

thank you

Sungrow is a great, powerful option with an inbuilt bypass contactor and up to 4 x MPPTs (on the larger 8 & 10kVA models). On the other hand, Fronius only has 2 x MPPTs, and an external contactor is required.

Deye Hybrid is the best option if you have 2 AC sources such as the grid and a backup generator.

I would also be interested whether Huawei could meet my requirements that are as follows:

  • Photovoltaic Panels: 20 kW output
  • Inverter: Hybrid, capable of supplying power during grid outages
  • Power Configuration: 3-phase
  • Battery Storage: 20-30 kWh, supporting instant backup for 3-phase loads

In fact a local installer (for my house in Italy) recommended the following setup from Huawei:

  • Smart Energy Controller SUN (inverter),
  • Smart String Energy Storage System LUNA (battery)
  • SmartGuard-63A (backup box).

Anyone has experience with Huawei in a 3-phase config? Any advice?

Better to have a look on Huawei prices first. Have had a Hybrid 10 KW Huawei Inverter installed and was planning to install 2 x 10 KWh Batteries, ridiculous. At the end I have kicked out the only one year old Huawei Inverter and Installed two pcs. Deye 10 KW Hybrids plus 3 x 10 KWh Batteries LV Topsun. Price was not even 50% of the Quote for the two Huawei Batteries.

Hello! The Deye hybrid inverters might be a good fit for your system because they have been receiving good reviews, particularly for their dependability and efficiency. Your 15kW battery pack should be compatible with a Deye 15kW inverter, as these systems are frequently commended for their simplicity of connection. It’s also worthwhile to think about local warranty services and support because you’re in Greece. Other companies that provide high-quality hybrid inverters that work well with large-scale home systems are SMA, Fronius, and Solis. You might want to look into these as well. Before choosing, make careful to evaluate the features, effectiveness, and post-purchase support.

DEYE is very popular on every market, depends on your budget. As far as i know it requires a very skilled installer to make it work as intended.

For very unbalanced load look first at Victron. Only cons is you require 3 inverters for each phase, but regardless of load you have an inverter to load up, even though load is 3p. Also compatible with any battery brand, even EV batteries.
Second brand would be SOLAX, cheaper than Huawei. But follows same logic, only compatible with SOLAX batteries, but offers a wider range of batteries products. Works very well with heat pumps in automation. With Solax you can always extend your max capacity. Kinda expensive but ULTRA model offers unbalanced load and 2 batteries out on the inverter.

Solar System Setup with INV Inverters

Setting up a solar system with INV inverters requires understanding the components and steps for a successful installation. Good planning is key to effective results. It optimizes energy conversion and system efficiency.

Components Needed for Installation

To set up INV inverters, you need the right Solar System Components. Essential items include:

  • Solar panels: These capture sunlight and turn it into electricity.
  • Mounting systems: These hold panels in place.
  • INV inverters: They convert DC from panels to AC for home use.
  • Wiring and electrical components: These connect and support the system.
  • Monitoring systems: For tracking energy output and performance.

Steps to Prepare for Installation

Preparation is key for a smooth solar system setup. Follow these steps for a simpler process:

  1. Site assessment: Find the best spot for your solar panels for maximum sunlight.
  2. Electrical assessment: Check if your electrical systems match the INV inverters.
  3. Permitting: Get any needed permits to follow local rules.
  4. On-Grid Inverter Setup: Plan how to connect your INV inverters to the grid correctly.

Good preparation boosts your solar system’s efficiency and output. It ensures better performance and energy use over time.

Grid Connection Process with INV Inverters

The Grid Connection Process is key to linking INV inverters with solar energy systems. It ensures the installation is safe and meets standards. It also makes sure the power output is reliable. Knowing these guidelines helps users understand what’s needed for a grid-tied inverter connection.

Understanding Grid Connection Guidelines

Connecting INV inverters to the grid requires following certain rules. These rules cover technical needs and how the system works. Inverters change DC power from solar panels to AC power, making it safe for the grid.

They also help keep the grid voltage stable. This makes power distribution more efficient.

Guideline Description Voltage and Frequency Matching Inverters must match grid voltage and frequency for safe operations during the grid-tied inverter connection. Safety Features Automatic disconnection during grid outages ensures system safety and protects equipment from damage. Peak Efficiency Standards Many inverters achieve peak efficiency over 94%, with some models reaching up to 96%, which is important for performance. Monitoring Capabilities Inverters continuously monitor grid voltage and frequency, allowing them to adjust output and maintain power quality. Certifications Compliance with standards like UL shows the reliability and safety of grid-tied inverter systems.

Being compatible with battery storage helps during peak demand times. Advanced inverters can adjust their power based on frequency changes. This helps stabilize the grid. Features like start voltage and IP ratings for protection show the detailed nature of connecting INV inverters to the grid.

Efficiency Comparison: TP Series vs Other Inverters

The efficiency of solar inverters is key to a solar system’s success. The INV 5 to 25 TP Series Inverters stand out, with up to 95% efficiency. This shows they can turn sunlight into electricity very well.

Other inverters, like the Grid Tie Inverter without Power Limiter (GTInL), have similar efficiency. But the Grid Tie Inverter with Power Limiter (GTIwL) has lower efficiency because it lacks Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT). This is important for those who want to get the most energy from their solar panels.

Things like temperature, AC voltage, and reactive power affect inverter efficiency. TP Series Inverters use advanced tech like Bayesian Neural Networks (BNNs) to predict efficiency. They also clean data to ensure accurate performance metrics.

Inverter Type Efficiency (%) Notes TP Series Inverters Up to 95% High performance; utilizes MPPT GTInL Approximately 95% Efficient power conversion; no limitations GTIwL Lower efficiency Lacks MPPT; reduced energy output

Common Misconceptions About Grid-Tied Inverters

The solar energy world has many myths about grid-tied inverters. One big myth is that these inverters can work alone without the grid. But, they actually work with the grid, changing their output to match it. This misunderstanding can confuse people about how they work and how well they do their job.

Another myth is about safety features. Many don’t know that grid-tied inverters, like the INV series, have anti-islanding protection. This feature keeps the device safe during grid outages. It’s also important to know that going over the inverter’s max DC input voltage can cause shutdowns or damage. Making sure the inverter is sized right is key, like with the INV V DC that works best at 550-850V.

Some think grid-tied inverters work during power outages. But, they can’t because of anti-islanding protection. They need to be connected to the grid to work. Also, many believe you can just connect regular inverters to solar panels. But, you need things like charge controllers and batteries because grid-tied systems don’t store power. They use the grid for energy balance, showing why it’s important to know how they work.
